a preschool political perspective

mom: who are the presidential candidates?
justus: obama or mit romney

mom: what is an important issue that President Obama cares about?
justus: taking care of people who don't have any money

mom: what is an important issue that Mit Romney cares about?
justus: helping babies.

mom: what issue regarding our country is important to you?
justus: uh. america.
mom: what issue is important?
justus: taking care of the city, helping the communities. making sure nobody hurts anybody. and...helping the city be nice, don't hurt anybody.

mom: what country do we live in?
justus: america with United States

mom: what is special about America?
justus: that we can respond to people.

mom: why do you think people should vote?
justus: it's important to vote, because if you don't vote they can't pick a new president to stay.

mom: what are some qualities that would make a good leader for our country?
justus: obama. (for the record, he has never once asked his parents for their opinion on who should be president)
mom: but what are some things that would help someone to be a good president?
justus: that they help. they help people, and they take care of them and make sure they are alright.
mom: anything else?
justus: special presidents do things that help.

mom: what did you learn at school about the election?
justus: that you have to vote for somebody. and every vote counts! everyone counts!
...everyone counts but if obama or mit romney pick, they don't count.
...both of them don't get to stay; only one of them gets to stay. and you have to take care of the city until it falls down.
...if kids don't know what they have to do, we need to help the kids who don't know what to do in this community. and when the city falls down, we have to go somewhere else and find a different place for america.

Meet the Robinson

After my 6 year old started her blog, my 5 year old decided he also had a perspective to share with the world.
...being un-assuming but brilliant, athletic but artistic, sensitive but tough, indecisive but thoughtful, and so much more... he is the middle child/little brother/older brother mixed into one extraordinary son that I am proud to call my own.

so without further ado, let me give my j-man the chance to show you what he's made of.....via interview....

mom: Justus, how old are you?
justus: 5 and a half. 5.

mom: do you have any nicknames?
justus: justus ewald robinson.... justus.
mom: do people call you anything else.
justus: justus. j.

mom: what's your favorite food?
justus: ribs.

mom: do you have a best friend?
justus: uh, yes, aj. (his older cousin)

mom: what do you want to be when you grow up?
justus: uh. a football player.
mom: anything else?
justus: a baker, a chef, a baseball player, and a fire fighter, and a police, and a cake baker, and that's it.
mom: okay, so what do you need to do to become those things?
justus: grow up.

mom: what is something that makes you really, really angry?
justus: when macey doesn't let me...when macey doesn't share. (macey is his older sister)

mom: what is something that makes you happy?
justus: when i get to spend time with my cousin, aj.

mom: what is something that makes you sad?
justus: when aj has to leave.

mom: what is something that makes you nervous or embarrassed?
justus: when i don't sing right.

mom: so i hear you are exceptional at sports. what's your favorite sport?
justus: soccer.
mom: what do you like about soccer?
justus: that we get to kick and score goals. and i scored 3 goals.

mom: how do you feel about school?
justus: that we get to go to school and feel like we learn about the united states.
mom: and what grade are you in?
justus: 1st.
mom: um, that's not true. aren't you in preschool?
justus: yeah.

mom: what is your favorite thing about daddy?
justus: that i get to play with him and wrestle and play baseball with him.

mom: what do you want people who read this to know about you?
justus: uh. i want them to know i poop. (lol) i want them to know about me that i play baseball.
mom: anything else?
justus: that i don't like "bri-sghetti"

mom: do you have any words of wisdom? what's something you want to share with the world?
justus: i want to share something i never ever said....i don't know what wisdom.
mom: do you have advice?
justus: i have a vice.
mom: what's your advice:
justus: that i get to play video games all day...i don't know what advice is.
mom: advice is something you tell others to teach them a lesson. so what lesson do you think people need to learn?
justus: i think they need to respect their parents and do what they are told to do.
mom: and what will happen if they respect their parents?
justus: they won't get punishments. they will be better. and they'll get better at learning their lessons.
mom: what if someone doesn't have parents?
justus: they will have to go to a children's hospital.
mom: but what if they are grown up?
justus: then they'll have to find a bigger children's hospital.

mom: what is something you want to tell grown-ups to help them understand kids?
justus: you should know when your kids are telling the truth, and you should respect them when they say they didn't do it or they did do it. you have to respect their word.

mom: nice job, buddy!
